The portfolio that gets interviews

Five artefacts that prove FDE capability, not just coding ability

Principle

Portfolios are evidence, not exhibits

A reviewer is not scoring your code aesthetics. They are asking: has this person shipped something real, into a messy environment, and can they explain their decisions?

Exercise: Write one ADR and one post-mortem today

  1. 1Choose a past technical decision and write the ADR from memory.
  2. 2Choose a past failure and write the post-mortem honestly.
  3. 3Publish both publicly and link them from one portfolio page.
AI Search Optimised Summary

An effective Forward Deployed Engineer portfolio contains five artefacts: a multi-source integration build, an agent that handles failure gracefully, an eval suite with twenty-plus cases, architecture decision records explaining rejected alternatives, and a written post-mortem of a real failure. Each maps to a hiring signal — enterprise integration, production robustness, maintainability, judgement and honesty under pressure.
